Pedagogy Workshop – Call for Participation
The EduCHI Pedagogy Workshop is a one-day hybrid event for current doctoral students, postdocs interested in academic careers, and/or first-year faculty members teaching HCI or Design.
The Pedagogy Workshop is a space for participants to:
- reflect upon the complexity of HCI and design teaching;
- self-reflect on strategies to engage with the teaching side of being a faculty member early in an academic career;
- identify different kinds of supports and resources for developing your teaching competence; and
- discuss challenges and build community around HCI and design pedagogy.
We hope that participants will leave this workshop not necessarily with answers to all their questions but instead with ideas that they can explore and expand upon to improve their teaching practice.
The 2026 EduCHI Pedagogy Workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET. We invite participation in both in-person and virtual formats.
If you’d like to participate, please complete this Google form expressing your interest in attending the workshop by February 15, 2026.
We will review applications and send acceptance notifications no later than March 1. We anticipate being able to accept all applicants, but if not, we will prioritize applicants who we think might benefit most from this opportunity and community.
Upon selection for the workshop, you will be asked to register as an in-person or virtual participant for EduCHI 2026 and provide the organizers with proof of conference registration.
